On Tuesday, September 15, local mountaineers, speakers and writers Alan Arnette and Jim Davidson will share their firsthand accounts of climbing Mt. Everest when the 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Nepal in April of this year. Join the local speakers at 5 p.m. in the Lory Student Center Theater as they recount the experience of being stranded in camps one and two, and witnessing the resiliency of the Nepalese people in the aftermath of a tragedy that left 8,000 people dead and more than 20,000 injured.  The event is sponsored by the Office of International Programs, with support from Campus Recreation, the Outdoor Program in Campus Recreation, and the Nepali Students Association. Admission is free and open to the public, but seats are first-come, first-served. Doors will open at 4:30 p.m.

Ongoing Relief Efforts

Alan, Jim and the Nepali Students Association are involved in raising funds contributing to on-going recovery efforts. There will be opportunities to learn more about Nepal and contribute to recovery efforts.
